Highlights
Explore the moors and mines of Swaledale with a circular route from Surrender Bridge above Reeth. Swaledale is one of the best known areas of Yorkshire and renown for its scenery. But, did you know that it was once a site of heavy industry?
This is a moderate walk of approximately 16km. Meet time is 9am and finish approximately 4pm.
The moors at this time of year are changing from winter to spring and the views extensive, but, they can bite! Please be properly equipped for a day at high elevations in the Pennines; waterproof jacket and trousers, good footwear and food and drink are essential.
Not only come and learn about the moors and their industrial history but if you wish to practice your navigation, this is an ideal opportunity. The trip will be lead by David, who is a qualified Summer and Winter Mountain Leader, holds the International Mountain Leader Carnet and is a provider for the National Navigation Award Scheme.
Cost is £35 per person for 14yrs and over, £10 for 13yrs and under; dogs are welcome but must be on a lead.
